DAY 3, WEEK 4. Took down my 4 cornrows... they still looked and felt so good I almost didn't want to take them down but I was so looking forward to brushing. Finished brushing and am going to rebraid my hair but, for the first time since beginning this routine, my hair, from root to ends, is oily - like the nice and lubricated type of oily; not greasy (and I haven't added any oils or serums to my hair this week) - and it doesn't look greasy at all, just really silky, shiny and, dare I say, healthy. It feels so so soft. Shedding was at a minimum and I can honestly say I saw no broken hairs hit the floor. The fact that I can simply wash, blow dry, and braid/twist up my hair, and have it look and feel as it does right now (with my leave-in as the only product) is still blowing my mind. Before this challenge, brushing my hair like this (unless flat-ironed) would reveal a dry, brittle, frizzy mess that felt just as horrid as it looked - but not anymore.
My color (natural color) is also looking very deep and rich and vibrant, as opposed to faded, dull and even a bit ashy like before - which, btw, I blamed on "aging factors". And! my scattered grey hairs are barely noticeable as they are blending and playing well with the rest of my hair instead of looking all frazzled while sticking up in any direction they see fit. They are also feeling very smooth and silky - which is new. Very pleased with how things are progressing.
Anyway... hope you all enjoy the rest of the week!
Side Note: you know what else I realized this week? I do not miss my wearing my natural curls - at all. I don't miss styling them, I don't miss the products needed to tame them. I don't miss "refreshing" them. I don't miss the unnecessary frizz. And I don't miss not being able to run my fingers through my hair so not to disturb them. I'm not saying I'll never again style a 'wash & go'... just saying I don't miss it.
You got that right. And, in the back of my mind, I knew I was doing way too much but kept doing it anyway...🤦🏽♀️
