How to do a facial at home by yourself! Have your own D.I.Y Spa Day!

Hey love, welcome. This stay at home order because of the coronavirus has us all stressed out. Join me, take a day off, and pamper yourself. It's a lot easier and cheaper than you think so let's talk about it. The star of my last pamper day was Organic Matcha Green Tea. With this one product, I made Gren tea night gel, a facial masque for oily skin, peach green tea lemonade, and a Green Tea infused moisturizing facial and body butter! Let's talk about our ingredients.

Lemon Grass:

Cymbopogon, also known as lemongrass, barbed wire grass, silky heads, Cochin grass, Malabar grass, oily heads or fever grass, is a genus of Asian, African, Australian, and tropical island plants in the grass family. (Wikipedia)

Lemongrass is a fast-growing plant that can endure when harvesting when plants are young without any adverse effects on growth. The green leafy portions are a little too tough to eat, instead, boil water and steep for an amazing tea or broth. The juicy stalks are edible when mashed or minced. The smell is amazing! This powerhouse helps prevent the growth of some bacteria and yeast. It also contains substances that are thought to relieve pain and swelling, reduce fever, improve levels of sugar and cholesterol in the blood, stimulate the uterus and menstrual flow, and have antioxidant properties.

Matcha Green Tea

A 100% natural source of:

  • Vitamin C

  • Soluble fiber

  • Insoluble fibers

  • L-Theanine, which is the secret of Zen monk’s focus calm alertness

  • Caffeine, unlike coffee its consumed slower because of L-Theanine

  • Antioxidants – Includes well over 100 times (EGCG) more than regular green tea.

Matcha is rich in antioxidants, naturally occurring chemicals in food that help your body in a number of different ways. The antioxidants in matcha help to fend off disease, slow the aging process, and ensure that your body is operating at its best. As green tea’s popularity lives on, so do the people who drink it. One Japanese study found that people who drink at least one pint of green tea daily tend to live longer than individuals that do not. Additionally, it’s been found that women who drink five or more 3.4-ounce cups of green tea per day can reduce their risk of heart disease by 31 percent over women who drink one or fewer cups of matcha green tea per day.

Add small drops of hot water as you mix until desired consistency is reached.

Matcha and Lemongrass Face & Body Butter

3 Cups Shea Butter

1 Tbsp Matcha

Melt Shea Butter in a double broiler and add lemongrass and over and infuse on low heat for one hour. After the first hour remove your pot from the fire and allow cooling to seal in all nutrients. Once the butter begins to firm add it back to the fire and add Matcha. Stir in Matcha non-stop and do not stop until all the butter is melted and all Matcha is broken down and mixed well. Now, remove from heat source. Once the butter is slightly cooled, transfer to your desired container. Store in a cool dry area for up to 12 months.
