There's a big debate going on. Does your scalp produce its own oil? Do oils go on the scalp and if so what type? What is the difference between a carrier oil and essential oil? Let's get to the answers you've been searching for.
What are Essential Oils?
Essential Oils are compounds extracted from plants. These oils capture the plant's scent and flavor. Unique aromatic properties give each essential oil its characteristic. Essential oils are obtained through distillation (steam and/or water) or mechanical methods, cold pressing is a good example.
What are Carrier Oils?
Carrier Oils are oils used to dilute your essential oils. Although they have their own amazing properties, a carrier oil should always be used to ensure the safe use of essential oils on the body.
Most make their mistake when selecting a carrier oil. It is very important to choose oils based on your scalp type (oily, dry, normal), porosity and density. To understand your scalp, porosity and more download my eBook now.
1. Rosemary Oil: stimulates blood circulation to the scalp and promotes hair growth. This oil carries anti-inflammatory benefits that help to nourish hair follicles. It also has an analgesic property that soothes an inflamed scalp. It adds shine and luster to the hair shaft while cleaning the scalp.
2. Ylang Ylang Oil: is effective in the reduction of breakage to the hair shaft. It enhances sebum production in damaged or weak hair follicles. This oil is not recommended for those with oily scalp. This oil is recommended for those suffering from a dry flaky scalp.
3. Bergamot Oil: is a must have to maintain a healthy scalp. This powerhouse speeds up wound healing while reducing inflammation. It‘s many antimicrobial properties are vital when it comes to maintaining a healthy scalp and hair shaft.
Essential oils should never be applied directly to the scalp. Use the following formula for mixing essential oils for use on the hair and body. Please remember every formula is different. This is a mild formula for all porosity levels.
