Hey Guru! Heat damage is the #1 fear of many. If we get into the science of hair snapping hair back and blocking damage is so easy.

So, what is Scrunching?? I learned this is Cosmetology school but here is the link for you to dig more.

Scrunching is a hairstyling method where you cup and squeeze your hair in your hands or a towel to help shape your curls. The method is non-damaging to your hair and allows for volumized, defined, and frizz-free curls.

I like this article because it's by Carol's daughter. They're main client is not black women with very curly hair but women with very wavy and loose curls. The looser the curl more scrunching is used to define or create the slight illusion of curl pattern by manipulating the hair while wet. Check the link below and the textures of the models in the photos.

Is scrunching good for your hair?

Yes, it's no tension and extremely low manipulation while the hair is wet. This method is great for straight or wavy hair. In fact, it's a great way to give straight strands more definition. It's all about using the right technique and best products for scrunching straight hair, AKA hairspray.

If you have naturally wavy hair this is a great method to use after a silk press, blow out or in heat service that temporarily changes your curl pattern. Scrunching is used during the conditioning process for naturally curly or wavy hair to put the protein in the hair back in place. The hydrogen bond is waiting for direction while wet. Scrunching is the method you use to tell your hair to curl back up.

This is a very soft procedure that causes no damage if done properly. Remember your hair is weakest when wet.
